A little bit ABOUT ME
Everyone has a story to tell... but instead, I will share what I have learned from my experiences. Which in a way, it's the same as telling my story... or is it?
This blog is about sharing the learnings that I have gained over the years as a business professional, athlete, mom, world traveler, immigrant, and entrepreneur. I am a "retired" Tax Lawyer who spent 20+ years as a consultant in Mergers & Acquisitions. I have since started my own business as a full-time Cycling Coach. That's the overview, but there is much more behind that.
I grew up in Brazil, watching my parents work extremely hard to send me and my brother to good schools. I started my first business at age 18; a ballet academy for young girls. I got my J.D. and a few years of experience as a lawyer before I met my husband in 1998 and moved to the United States in 1999. Leaving Brazil and my family was the hardest thing I've ever done.
My English skills were very basic, and in pursuing my LL.M. at Boston University, it took me 30 minutes to read one page of a text book. But I persevered and graduated with the "American Law Achievement Award" of the Class of 2001. I then went on to work as a consultant, traveling the world for business while raising two children with a very supportive husband.
Physical activity has always been a part of my life. Ballet, yoga, gym classes, strength training, cycling... I am the kind of person who workouts anywhere and everywhere, during vacations, business trips, in hotel rooms, you name it! A few years ago I fell in love with road cycling and cyclocross, and embraced the opportunity of becoming a Cycling Coach as a way to provide guidance, support, and connect with people.
